It's like Christmas in June!

Yesterday, I finally received the order I had placed in early May! Huzzah!
Oh how I love receiving packages in the mail even though I already know what most of them are. It's the child in me that loves the unwrapping of things. The feel of breaking down that last barrier to get to your prize. *sighs...it never gets too old. Well, yesterday's package was a big one, but not necessarily mine since I'm planning on giving what's in it as graduation gifts to a friend and a family member. It contains art prints by the artist Nene Thomas. I won't be posting which prints I bought since I know for sure Jeanette from today & everyday reads this blog, so everyone can blame her that your curiosity will never be relieved in regards to the contents of this big package. However, to give my fellow readers a perspective of this huge package and how large these prints are, I have taken two pictures for comparison. Behold! You will now all be subjected to witness my infamous aforementioned extremely bad photographic skills!

And No, the pictures weren't taken with a cell phone, web cam, or any other device that produces low quality photos. My photography skills are just that bad!
Anyways, at least I still get to tear this big mother *beep*er apart! Happy Tuesday! =)

A Little Slow, But Better Than Nothing

As I was updating my Goodreads "read" list yesterday afternoon, I had a difficult time recalling the title or author of a book I borrowed and read a few months back. I tried going on Amazon to see if I could run into the title while searching the Amazon Recommendation pages for historical romances, but alas to my utter disappointment and frustration, it didn't show up. So, I decided to move on for the day and get some reading done and watch a few live performances of Adele on youtube. (How I love this woman! And no, I'm not jumping on the band wagon since I've listened to her music way before her 21 album or the performance to her music in Sytycd.) Off topic, getting back on. Now where was I? Oh, yes, so I was watching youtube videos around eight o'clock last night and suddenly the name Ian Mackenzie popped into my head. When it did, I paused the video I had on and rushed on Amazon to type the name into the search bar. And this is what popped-up

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Berkley Sensation)

It just goes to show that my subconscious likes to find solutions to my problems. Like the time I solved a calculus problem that I've been having difficulties with in my dream, but that's a story for another day. =)

A Morning with the Post Office

Dear United States Postal Office located near Costco,

Why is it that you don't fire employees that customers often complain about? You know who I'm talking about. Here's a hint, she's elderly, stick-thin, wears red lipstick, sometimes has on red-rim glasses, nosy, and generally puts customers in a bad mood due to her being unhelpful and bitter. Anyways, I'm not writing to complain about anyone specific today, but about the service your overall employees provide.

Today, like previous times I have done business with you, there was a long line going out the door. However, I was lucky enough to be first in line since I arrived a few minutes earlier than the rest. You had three people working the counters and I thought surely it wouldn't take too long for my turn to be serviced. Oh, how wrong I was. Once again, I overestimated the competency of your employees. It took fifteen minutes until my turn arrived. Why on earth would I have to wait fifteen minutes when I was the first in line?!? What is worse than that is that when my turn did arrive, your employee stopped in the middle of our transaction, and for a good five minutes, looked for a pen to provide for the customer before me. Only after another in-line customer gave that pen-needing customer what she wanted did your employee finally deem to continue and finish our transaction. What should have only taken about three minutes tops took about ten! That's not even including the time spent waiting in line!

In conclusion, I would like to suggest you train your employees better in efficiency and priorities management. It is obvious they are lacking in those areas of expertise given the unnecessarily long time spent on each transaction. Better yet, fire all your old workers that have grown complacent with their work and hire new ones that already encompass the above characteristics and a more likeable demeanor. In this way, everyone would be more happy in the long run.

Your long time customer,

Kristy

In other news, I so wanted to stalk our neighborhood UPS driver today when we drove past one another. He had my package!

Off the Mark

Here's a reply I just wrote to a potential buyer. What happened to my professionalism?

*The subject of inquiry being the condition of some novels

sent to aLiveJournalMember

Hi,
There is some yellowing to the volumes, but other than that they're in like-new condition. Actually, I take that back, Volume 19 has a slight bend or residue on the back cover (I can't really tell since the so called bend doesn't effect the inside of the back cover, so might be a scratch? Is that even possible? (O_o)). However, if you order all those volumes you will get that one free anyways. I have pictures, just that I will need your email account to email them to you. Just to warn you though, I'm not the best at taking pictures...wobbly hands and no sense of esthetic and all. If you're still interested, let me know and PM me your email address.

A Life Changing Discovery!!!!

P.S. The last arrow drawn was completely coincidental in regards to the remark. =)

Increased Heart Palpitations (the reason not being amorus)

OMG!!!! The neighborhood stray cat just scared the crap out of me!
It meowed/growled outside my window and I swear it sounded like a chain-smoking old woman dragging out the word "hello"
In my defense, I blame the shapeshifter novels I've been reading.

A Morning of Highs and Lows (If only this could have been the weather)

Let's start off with the high points:
  1. I won a contest! I never usually win anything and now I've finally won something! I will mark this day here as a watershed in the history of my luck. (hopefully)
  2. Someone in New Zealand wants to buy a book I've been trying to get rid of for awhile. Yay!
Okay, all that excitement happened within 30 minutes of my life at about 9 o'clock in the morning.
After 9:30, it was downhill from there.
  1. Dad told me to wake-up so that I could go interpret for my aunt in Chinese at PepBoys (a car service and parts business) BTW, I hate interpreting especially since my Chinese pretty much sucks.
  2. Aunt arrived in 5 minutes and expected me to be ready. Dad dared to give me the stink eye when he was the one that didn't give me any prior notice. (not the first time he has pulled this stunt)
  3. While at PepBoys, dad lashed out at me when he got impatient and wanted to know when the car will be serviced. I told him I understood and that I'll ask the service guy when he got off the phone. My dad then calls me stupid for no reason.
  4. After the initial half an hour, I spent another two and a half hours waiting for my aunt's car to be done with nothing to do since I didn't bring a book to read.
  5. I didn't get home until 1:15 in which I was finally able to eat my first meal of the day. Sadly I didn't get to eat much since all the food mom cooked was catered to my dad and not me.
And that is how I spent my morning and early afternoon. Needless to say, I'm not in a joyful mood.
On a side note, I just found out recently that USPS now has a padded flat rate envelope! I'll blog about it more later when I feel up to it.

My gripe against UPS and FedEx

It has recently caught my attention that shipping companies love to keep on track of their scheduled delivery dates. This isn't a bad thing as long as it's not late. However, sometimes they do the most peculiar things that either leave me scratching my head or thinking they're a satanic bunch. Through the wonders of online tracking, here are two examples in which UPS and FedEx delayed any chance of an early delivery to my humble abode.

WE WERE SO CLOSE YET SO FAR APART!

AT LEAST FedEX WAS ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY ENOUGH TO NOT REPEAT CITIES THAT ARE NOT THE DESTINATION
